Irky

Does it drive you nuts when someone tries to talk over you? It's still called interrupting, people.

Do you also get crazy internally when someone makes remarks about you being not-so-smart? Yeah... well, SO sorry I didn't go to your wonderful school.

Do you also feel like throwing a banana peel under someone when they get the last newspaper at the store or the last cold Sprite?

Me too!

My Milk Toof

This is THE cutest blog I have seen since cats eating cheezburgers: My Milk Toof. Read all about the adventures of ickle and Lardee! They are just adorable.

And darned if they don't have a book for sale!

My Milk Toof: The Adventures of ickle and Lardee

Kiki says watch this

This is my favorite album currently. Spirit is a great movie and excellent soundtracks. Not to mention I love Bryan Adams, so when the prospect of him musically narrating a whole movie says jump, you jump.

Deep Thought

I was in the freezer aisle at Walmart today and wondered, "Can Toaster Strudel be put in the toaster?" Which, knowing my current sans-microwave situation, is a legitimate question. However, my questioning instinct was smacked down by intuition that should have stepped forward first today. Sigh.

And the corn wasn't so bad anyway.

Clockwork Angel

This is the book I am planning on getting next. I have read the previous series by Cassandra Clare, the Mortal Instruments, and it was great! I even lent the full trilogy to my co-worker.

On a side note, my husband wants corn with dinner again. So sick of corn!

Deep thoughts

This afternoon, someone spit out of the window of their car. I swerved to avoid it.

Plan

Here's my new plan for today, since my first one was spoiled by a super duper migraine. Yes I am blogging in the dark with the screen intensity turned way down - no, I don't care about colors and light or much of anything today. I did brush my teeth though - you're welcome.

7:00: call in due to migraine screaming at my head. why does it do that?
8:15: get scared awake by worried 3rd shift husband thinking i overslept
8:16: back to sleep
noon: finally get up.
12:15: attempt some lunch, do a halfway decent job at it; give rest to dog.
12:45: watch law and order with sunglasses on - yes i did.
2:00: take dog outside with my sunglasses on again - that did not help my cause.
3:30ish: blog with lights down
3:45: 1st laundry load with sunglasses on again
4:00: finish cutting coupons from yesterday
5:00: 2nd laundry load

None of these things require very many neurons to fire, so lucky me. If hub doesn't have to work tonight, then he gets the fun stuff like cleaning the bathroom toilets, the litterbox, washing the dog, and vacuuming the whole house. That was most of my original plan for the day.

I love Sprite. I can tell I don't feel good when I start putting it away like I'm a CO2 addict. Nothing else tastes good when I'm not well.

Ode

Mister Manatee,

I don't know what you are, but you are awesome. You are right up there with the beluga whale, sea turtle, and the owl for me.

I know that you swim and are a mammal and can pose long enough to make a fine piece of jewelry, but that's all I know about you. Why are you endangered, buddy?

So, I shall do what I can to save you. I will buy the manatee pendant from Shana Logic and support your fund Save the Manatee. As soon as I get another paycheck, that is.

not-so-lazy sunday

Gamecocks win 38-19 against Furman!  Stephen Garcia tore it up!

Vacation prep didn't really happen yesterday, at least on the scale I intended.

Here's today's schedule.  Let's see if I follow it:
10:45: get up (slept in for once)
1:00: finally shower
2:00: Blog/check internet for coupon deals
2:20 flat-iron hair
2:30: go get newspapers for weekly circulars
3:30: Cut coupons; do 1st load of laundry
4:00: clean part of kitchen
4:45: 2nd load of laundry
5:00: prep dinner
6:00 3rd laundry load/put up or pack 1st & 2nd
6:30: clean bathroom
sometime tonight: make list of vacation items to take or buy there

rest is unplanned at the moment.

I do my best work after in the PM.  Hence the above plan.

Vacation Pending

I am prepping for vacation as I write this.  I forgot how much planning must go into getting things packed and ready.  Well, that plus cleaning up the house so we don't come home to a mess.

Friend has volunteered to babysit Houdini Dog; that's $80 we don't have to spend having her boarded.  Thankfully she knows her temperament.

Hoping to get another friend or maybe my mom to come check on the pids.  They can pretty much fend for themselves, but four days without a litter scoop and fresh water/food would not be good.

Currently reading: Vampires Diaries, Book 3.  Might have take it with me if I don't read it fast enough.

Oh, and GO GAMECOCKS!

update

I'm off to start another daily adventure in the life of Kiki. Vacation soon! Going to the beach (haven't been there for purposes of relaxation in 10 years). Woo! Obviously excited.

Traffic

Traffic sucks. In case you weren't aware. I would rather be home right now watching tub caulk dry.

Yuck

Every time I watch that show Hoarders, I find myself cleaning by the end of it.  Do you?  Or am I just that paranoid?  Probably a little of both, you say?

At the same time, though, that show makes me sad sometimes.  I'm sure this will come at no surprise, but if there are no children involved, I feel the worst for the poor pets who have been given no choice but to put up with that squalor.

It makes me feel grateful that I have a clean home.

Wow...

Two of my peeves (come on, can you even handle more than that right now?)

If you feel the need to tell me you're cool, you're really not. Cool people are cool on their own. Besides, do you really want to be cool? Everybody's doing it. Do something on your own for once. I do. It's called having a unique identity or personality. It took me one day out of middle school to realize that those people I tried so hard to be like or be around were just as insecure as me.

I love it how kids say "I'm getting ___ for Christmas." Oh really? If I were your Mom and I heard you say that and I actually had bought the item, it'd be returned that day. And then I'd probably flick you on your forehead. Spoiled brat. You're why some people don't want kids.

You're in treble now

Too cute. Accidentally fell that way, forever captured on film.

My cat eats q-tips

Totally not kidding. He does. I doubt if I'll ever know why. I think I've said this before, but it's definitely worth a repeat.

Changed it up

New template... you like? I think I look much better organized now.

Sadly, I am in the violent throes of writer's block. What to do on a rainy day?

Prepare recipes for next weekend's July 4th party, maybe?
Hang up clothes to dry?
Tidy kitchen?
Assemble and use newly replaced Swiffer Mop?
Finish reading Sookie Stackhouse book 4?

Okay, okay - I'll do all of that.

British Petroleum and Their Oil "Spill"

Spill. Right. Is that really what one might call 43 days worth of the worst crude oil disaster in American history? I think we're past that.

See this article: "Don't Make Excuses for BP"

I won't belabor you with the saddest pictures of an oil disaster, just simply remind you that Louisiana folks just BARELY are able to get back on their feet after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

I just read that BP has already stated they are paying for at least six parts of the barrier islands proposal. Not sure if that means 6 islands or what. The original demand was 24 separate islands to block more crude oil from hitting Louisiana's shores.

But geez, just STOP THE OIL. At this point, just fricking sink a couple of decommissioned aircraft carriers on top of it or shove a few thousand metric tons of whatever down the opening!

Memorial Day

Well, I started the day off in a rush - getting the whole house cleaned for hub's co-worker coming over. Hub was on third this weekend and he got off early, so when I woke up Monday morning, he'd done over 2/3 of my honey-do list. The rest of my time was spent getting small things done and basically enjoying the day. I didn't even have to cook.

All in all, a good day. Yay!

Rush

Hub invited a co-worker and his daughter over tomorrow for Memorial Day festivities. This leaves me cleaning ALL day today. Sigh. I do enjoy having people over, but dangit, I need some help!

Phasing

Okay, I guess I went through another "no posting" phase. My bad. I am dedicated to being better, folks.

Other than the same old bull reminding me on an everyday basis that my part of my life that I cherished and took pride in was a sham (yeah, the reason I ended up on mood stabilizers in the first place), things are fine (no, not F.I.N.E., but actually fine).

Work is stressful but tolerable - at least to me. Everyone around me seems to be on edge. One person in my area got axed, but it apparently scared the crap out of half the people in the place. Not me. I expected it. I was not surprised in the least. My job performance has increased lately, too. Not promotion-worthy. That ain't in the runes yet.

I've been in a huge rock phase lately. I supposed that's a product of the above? Doesn't matter. I like it anyway.

Back later for a better update
