Better/etc.

I am much better today, but I am going to the doc tomorrow anyway, since I can't beat this cough.

Tonight, I am going to the first Furman Lakeside Concert Band practice. I love being in this band; most everyone is REALLY good on their instrument. It's a real joy to hear in the big practice room. I wish I could play piccolo, but there is a woman there already who is much more established than I am, so she gets it by default, I suppose. There aren't really any chair assignments since it's usually first come, first flute part, but there are "reserved" seats (myself included so I can't complain too much) if you know what I mean.

Coming home afterward and playing Fable!

Carri's favorite baby names

Olivia
Erik

Hopefully, I will have a boy and a girl eventually so I can use both of my favorite names.

no extra piggy $$

As I have not lately found any extra funding by means of my couch or car-seats, there will be no piggy update today.

Sicko

I haven't felt as bad as I did this week in a long time. I was even sick this morning. I didn't start to feel better until I borrowed my co-worker's fan. My temperature was going up and down all night. I went to bed freezing, woke up hot, woke up cold, woke up hot again, and finally went into the living room to sleep since I was uncomfortable on the bed (the bed is firm and is always uncomfortable, but I don't knock free gifts from family). The pids kept running over me. Plus, I still have a huge headache. Last night, it was a migraine. Does it sound like I'm complaining? Well, I am! Deal with it - this is my website!

I'm going home early again.

crappier

actually, i feel worse than crapola. truthfully, i feel really sick. i have to last three more hours, here, though. I feel like im going to be sick at any time.

Not to be confused with crayola...

I feel like crapola - I have NO voice at all again today. My phone is still on out-of-office monitoring. This one woman keeps calling and letting it ring once and calls again. She's left three messages in ten minutes!! I can't get a break!

Hershey's Kisses has patriotic kisses out now! LOL

$$ Piggy Update

$12.90!! I keep finding random coins and such in my pockets before I wash clothes. Also, anything that falls out of Josh's pockets and into the couch or my car seats is mine!

I coulda been a contenda!

How about that Contender finale last night? My vote was for Peter Manfredo, but I was content to see Sergio win just so he could buy his momma that house.

My all-time vote was definitely for Alfonso Gomez. It just about broke my heart to see him get eliminated, but I was excited and surprised to see him and Jesse duking it out in the opening match. I also thought it was ballsy of Alfonso to tell Sergio he'd like the chance to take the belt from him. I'd love to see that match.

What an excellent show! I dont typically care to watch reality programs, but this was different for me since it was more of a skilled competition than something like Real World or Surreal Life (both if which do not appeal to me at all).

I definitely think we'll see all four of them in pro fights.

"What? Speak up just a little!"

That's what I have been listening to all day so far. I have NO voice whatsoever, and my co-workers are giving me a hard time. :) I have to leave my phone on out-of-office to avoid talking (or not talking, as the case may be). However, the positive side is that I have time for other things and am catching up finally (I've been behind since my co-worker is out for her son's liver transplant).

And then I was cold...

For the past week or so, I have been absolutely burning up in our apartment. I thought it was me because I was sick, but apparently our air filter was clogged and a pipe had frozen up. I had been putting the "air" on 65 and nothing was getting better. Now that it's fixed (we have awesome landlords, thank goodness), it is SO COLD at home. When I came home for lunch, the maintenance person left the air on the temperature I put it on, so it was full-blast at 70! The poor piddies were laying on the blanket on our bed to get warm! I put it on 77 and it's still cold! Finally it's better... I can only imagine what our bill will be for the month considering it ran 24/7 trying to regulate the temperature.

Ears not necessary

My husband gets a break for the next couple of days. I'm starting to lose my voice due to a serious cough I've had over a week. The cough really hurts. It and the sinus "attack" is from getting tiki-torch smoke in my face at a luau last week. Every time the wind changed directions, the smoke seemed to hit me right in the face.

Click on Ears not necessary for some cool hints on relieving YOUR laryngitis.

I now feel comfortable enough to take both of the pids with us on the Gatlinburg trip, thank goodness! They're getting along SO much better now. When I went home for lunch, Lucy was laying on top of Macy. It's such a change from when they first met 11 days ago.

Money in the Piggy Update

$11.90! Woo hoo!!! I might get a stepladder along with my camera flash memory so I can reach the cabinets in the kitchen without bothering Josh.

My Wish List

A house

St. Elmo's Fire DVD (the song Just for a Moment is beautiful, plus it has Andrew McCarthy in it!)
digital DVD camcorder

more to come...

Vacation

Vacation countdown - 11 days, 15 hours!

Josh, the piddies, and I are taking a trip to Gatlinburg, TN in two weeks - it's sort of an early 1-year anniversary celebration. We rented a beautiful cabin on our honeymoon, but this time, we're staying at Holiday Inn Sunspree (where piddies are welcome!). Now that Macy and Lucy have somewhat bonded, it's safe to leave them alone (Thank goodness!). We plan to visit the Ripley's Aquarium again. Now that I have a better camera, it'll be worth it this time to take good pictures!

Therefore, expect to hear nothing from us from 6-4-05 to 6-6-05, as we will be having too much fun and spending too much $$!!

Money in the Piggy

$4.35 - toward another digital camera memory card! Woo-hoo! (Only need $50 or so - lol)

Organ Donation

Please consider becoming an organ donor. Are you going to use your organs when you're dead? If you're thinking about that answer, let me enlighten you - NO, you're not going to use them. Someone else could, though. I am a registered donor and I have notified my husband and parents that this is my intention. If you are a donor and your family does not consent, the doctors CANNOT take your organs. So, please tell your family your wishes and make sure they know that you want them to give consent after your death.

My very good friend and colleague is not at work right now because her 4-year-old son received the gift of life. He received a liver transplant on 4-12-2005. He has had a few bumps in the road to recovery, and will always have a harder time in life than other children, but this is a chance he never would have had without the beautiful gift that someone else thought to give away during their time of grief and sorrow.

I also encourage you to donate your time and money to organ donation foundations across the country.

My Weekend Concert

I was in a wonderful concert this weekend. I am a piccolo/flute player with the Greenville Concert Band (Greenville, SC) and we performed in front of the Front Porch Coffee Bar, which is a coffee shop in an old train caboose. It is surrounded by little shops, and the whole thing is just so quaint and adorable!

We played everything from The Blue and the Gray (a civil war medley with a fun piccolo duet) to The Marriage of Figaro - and the audience liked it all! I don't think we've ever had such an appreciative audience! We heard wolf whistles and and even received a standing "o" at the end. It's nice to play for grateful people. We've had concerts where we heard snoring - and we're one of the more entertaining instrumental groups in our region (I dont think they snored because WE were boring; I think they did it because they were dragged there by someone else and they didn't want to be there in the first place)! We all went home with smiles on our faces Saturday for sure! I carpooled with four other people since Josh had to work, so we had alot to talk about on the way home.

The drive from Greenville to Saluda and back was just beautiful. The rain stayed away and it was just a little sunny, so we had a wonderful time looking at the gorgeous scenery. The mountains are fascinating to me. I'm glad I brought my camera!

Sunday Night Boredom

My husband and his best friend are here playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" on xbox, and I am stuck watching them. My central air conditioning seems to be doing nothing but stirring around the hot air. I have set it on 65 and the gauge still reads 80! I will have to admit, my husband took me to see Episode 3 on Friday and I DID like it. I haven't seen 1 or 2 and saw 4-5-6 a LONG time ago when I was in high school. I only did it because he bought me the most recent two Harry Potter DVDs.
Lucy and Macy are getting along better this weekend! They are playing what we call piddy-pat (batting at each other). Macy still gives the occasional hiss, but it doesn't seem to be threatening at all. Lucy tries to eat his food, which worries me since he has adult food. I dont want her getting chunky early in life.

Lucy is so cute when she runs! She looks like a little bunny rabbit hopping all over the apartment! Macy has a stash of tissue wrap behind our rattan 4-tiered shelf and Lucy has found it. All I hear right now (besides the xbox) is her jumping in it like a pile of leaves.

This place is a complete mess. I'd take a picture, but it's too embarrassing. Even my kitchen table has become a catch-all. It's my fault, though... I can't blame Josh any for it. Everything I see there is mine! However, my kitchen is decent.

Rusty (Josh's best friend) just left and now I get to play my only x-box game - Fable! See you tomorrow!

Grr

Why doesn't my @^#%ed profile stay at the top?

Oh baby!

My best friend is going to have a girl! She's due in August (God love her for going through the summertime during her last trimester!) and I am throwing her a baby shower sometime soon. Any ideas on themes, anyone?

My first post!

Hi! This is Carri, aka "The Phantom Piccolo." The name is a tribute to both my love for music and my husband's love for Star Wars. My husband's name is Josh. We just celebrated our 6 month anniversary on 5-13. We have two cats: Macy and Lucy. Macy is the boy, but has somewhat of an ambiguous name due to the fact that we thought he was a girl until we took him to the vet! Macy is a 14 month old tuxedo and we just got Lucy, a dark-grey/white bellied tabby. She is 7 weeks old on Monday. Their b-days are 3-10-04 and 4-4-05. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how! Also, Macy HATES Lucy alot. He hisses, spats, GROWLS (I didn't know a cat could growl!) and even turns his sweet little half of a meow into a groan! She had the audacity to jump over his back last night, which made me laugh, of course; but Macy didn't take too kindly to that!

I'll talk about my music obsession at a later time.
