July 4th

Our concert went well... somewhat! Josh and I arrived early to picnic and watch another music ensemble perform before ours. The sun was shining and it was gorgeous. My in-laws arrived; some of us even had Dippin' Dots. We were having a really nice time.

About ten minutes before I went on stage to warm up, the clouds started rolling in. It got REALLY dark and we knew it was going to start raining. I walked up to the stage and I felt a raindrop. By the time I sat down (we had to wait for the stage to clear), it started raining a little. When we got out our instruments, it was pouring! I saw this mass of umbrellas come out all at once, my in-laws included. I had to tell Josh to run to the car and get my umbrella (rain wasn't really expected that day). About a third of the crowd left, and we cut our performance by around 5-7 songs.

By the time we played 1812 Overture, the rain was down to a trickle. The cannons still went off and the fireworks still went off as well. All in all, it was a good performance.

Poor Josh, though..... he was ABSOLUTELY SOAKED by the end of it all. Even his wallet took two days to dry out.
